Creating of Madonna

The iron skeleton of madonna is welded. The basic body is made of
polystyrene.

The clay model corresponds to my plans and ideas.

 

The model is covered with silicone, thus I get an exact impression of
the model´ s surface.

 

 

 

 

Front and rear part of the model are now covered with a 4 cm layer of plaster and stabilized by iron bars, thus I obtain two strong plaster casting moulds in which the silicone skins are spread out.

 

I add extremely fine modelling plaster onto the silicone skin inside the plaster casting mould, which is stabilized by fibre ribbon. Now I have the plaster shell mould for the caster.

 

Small spots of bother have to be made up.

 

 

 

First pieces are cast.The bronze head of madonna.

The bronze castings are welded.

 

 

 

 

Welded, sandblasted, patinated, brushed, smoothed and polished the madonna is ready to take its place above the convent´ s portal.
